Everything everywhere all at once

This is an interesting analysis of Trumpism, and how people become dependent on leaders.

The authors of the article Dr Suze Wilson and Sarah Chace employ e.g. a psychoanalytic lense on group phenomena.

In anxiety triggered by various disruptive changes, a group may defend its cohesion by reverting to a basic assumption of dependency, which depicts that that the leader provides a safe shelter against the threats. This is what Trumpism has managed pretty effectively: they’ve created a view according to which things are bad, chaotic, wild, even animalistic. And who is there to save our souls? Yes, the great savior. The same that created the image of the threat in the first place 😉

We can observe the same phenomena and defences in groups in workplaces, too. This view explains a number of phenomena that take place during change initiatives.
